Nurse jobs in Germany for foreign nurses
Germany needs nurses, but you cannot start work as a registered nurse on your foreign diploma alone. Your qualification must be recognised, and you need German.

The main requirements
| Recognition | Your nursing qualification is compared with German training |
|---|---|
| Language | German at B2 is the usual requirement |
| Who decides | The authority in the German state where you will work |
| EU and EFTA nurses | Generally automatic recognition |
| Non-EU nurses | Individual equivalence check |
What happens if you are not fully recognised
If your training differs from German training, you may need to close the gap through compensatory training or an exam in Germany. Requirements vary by state. Some states also ask for a specialist language exam, so check before you pay for courses.
Recognition partnership
Germany also has a recognition partnership route. You can enter before recognition is finished if you have an employer who agrees to support you. You still have to complete recognition after arrival. Language rules for this route are lower than B2 at entry, so check the current level with the employer.
Before you start
Find the right authority
Use the official Recognition Finder for the state where you want to work.
Prepare documents
You will usually need your diploma, a list of subjects and hours, and proof of work experience, with translations.
Start German early
Language usually takes the longest. Plan for it first.
Check employers carefully
Read any repayment clause in a contract before you sign.
