What the labourer contract looks like

This is what we have seen in real documents for the general labourer role. Other roles can differ.

Ask your manager about flights before you apply, and check what your own contract says.

How the Spanish work permit works

The route is the initial authorisation for temporary residence and employment. The employer applies in Spain, not you.

  1. Job offer and contract

The employer offers you the job and signs a contract that depends on the permit being granted.

  2. Employer applies

The employer applies to the immigration office in Spain. For jobs that are not on the hard-to-fill list, it must also show that it could not fill the job locally.

  3. Authorisation granted

The authorities check the employer, the contract and the job.

  4. Work visa

Once the employer is notified, you have one month to apply for the visa at the Spanish consulate.

  5. Travel and start

You travel on the visa and start work with the employer.

You cannot switch to this from a tourist visa. The permit must be in place before you enter Spain.

What to know before you apply

Family comes later

Under the general rules, a family reunification application needs at least 1 year of residence in Spain and permission to stay for at least 1 more year, plus the other conditions.

The pay in your contract is what counts

The gross amounts here come before tax and social contributions.

It is not guaranteed

The immigration office and the consulate decide. Nobody can promise a visa.

Germany or Spain?

Our Spanish contracts run for 12 months or longer. Our warehouse and driver jobs in Germany last 8 months, with free housing and flights paid by the employer.
